Weird Weekend

This weekend went VERY differently than we had originally planned, not in a bad way, but we ended up doing quite a few more things than we had originally intended. I spent Friday cleaning up the house and then we entertained Andrew and Cheryl who were coming through town along with Ryan, Chelsey and baby Elliot. Keith made some amazing turkey burgers AND black bean burgers; I made this potato salad and I think it's the best I've ever eaten, then I also did a repeat of this quick cobbler. In the morning I made Andrew and Cheryl pancakes before they headed out and got some errands out of the way while Keith hung with his dude friends at Titans training camp. In just two weeks time I will be the proud owner of prescription sunglasses! After my little episode last week, I'm going on a contacts hiatus but still want to be able to shield my eyes from the sun... can't wait! Anyway, once Keith and I both returned we headed out again to pick up a friend from the airport and to get take out from Pei Wei for dinner. I made Keith watch Country Strong with me out of curiosity and I think we were both surprised that it was pretty decent. Now today we've gone to church, had lunch with friends at Mitchells Deli and Keith has headed to band practice. It wasn't exactly the "no plans" weekend we had dreamed of but we're still thankful for the rest we did get.

Weekend Update

(yes I know that it's Tuesday... but Keith had yesterday off and I didn't feel like returning to the computer yet)

Here are a few things that went on this weekend (and Monday too!):

- Friday night Keith worked until 10 so I had "family dinner" with some friends from our church and learned how to play poker (and got an awesome recipe for spinach balls).
- Saturday I spent the day with some friends from church out in Amish town to see my friend Darlene's sister perform in a show. She was an awesome dancer, and afterwards we had dinner at an extremely yummy local restaurant.

- Sunday we picked up some items that we had ordered from Crate and Barrel which proved to be harder than planned and resulted in a much much needed afternoon nap haha
- Later on Sunday we headed over to Dan and Aly's for some BBQ/football watching hang out time. (The Titans won so my husband was in a great mood haha)
- Monday we got our beautiful guest book from Janelle! It was so fun to read all your awesome comments and see the pictures you drew for us haha. Janelle did such a great job binding all the small books together into one. I loveeeeee it!

- Monday I also found out that I didn't get the job I had been waiting for. Bummer. BUT! I still have my tour guiding job, and I've scheduled myself a pretty full October. Job search continues!
- Monday evening we finished up some laundry and grocery shopping, and since I was pretty bummed about the job situation Keith treated me to some Pei Wei for dinner and I got a fortune saying that I will be offered an incredible opportunity in the coming days. Fingers crossed!

September has been a pretty crazy month. I'm not to upset to say goodbye, with hopes that October will bring with it a new job or at least some clarity about where Keith and I are headed next. I'm definitely looking forward to some more great Fall weather before Winter settles in!

Belated Valentines Day

Sorry for the lull in posts, the internet+blogger seem completely uninterested in each other which is why it's taken forever to get these photos uploaded.

I would like to start by mentioning that I have the greatest family on the planet. Ever since Keith and I moved to Philadelphia my aunt Liz has sent us wonderful boxes full of goodies that are pretty hard to compete with. For Valentines Day we got lots and lots of her homemade cookies and more which was just what I needed on Tuesday afternoon after trying for an hour to get home on the bus.

Since we were in Washington, DC for most of the day Sunday, and then attempting to free our car from icy death for the rest of the night, we didn't really get a chance to appropriately celebrate Valentines day (which is also the 6 month mark in the countdown to our wedding!) and we both went on with our daily lives. Keith and I have this very incredible way of striking up completely opposite work/school schedules so it's only natural that on Wednesday when I have a full day of classes, he got the day off. Even though we were both completely fine with not doing anything on V-Day, we were long over due for a proper date so Keith surprised me by picking me up from school Wednesday evening with dinner and a movie in mind.

One of our more recent goals is to become more familiar with the city and branch out to try new restaurants. I think that our more immediate challenge is to find a really great burger place, but since neither of us had done any research on the matter we went with a standard favorite, Pei Wei, who will never let us down.

After a wonderful dinner Keith and I went to get a couple drinks (and kill time before the movie) at Winnies Le Bus which was actually the first restaurant that we ever came to in Manayunk when we visited with my parents last summer. I greatly enjoyed my yummy sangria, we need to go back there soon for dinner (and also their great happy hour!)

Then we headed to the theatre to see Valentines Day. Cheesy chick flick? Not really, we both enjoyed it a lot and was one of those movies that left you with an overall good feeling. I also really really love Juila Roberts, her part was my favorite for sure. I would recommend it if you're looking for a movie without too much emotional drama, but still pretty filled with love.

ALTHOUGH! Our wonderful feelings of goodness and love were abruptly squashed when we got outside and saw that it was SNOWING.. AGAIN! (<-- overreaction? my apologies) Thankfully it wasn't much and didn't stick, so we're just left with the preexisting mountains of snow from all of last week. I am done with snow.
