36 Weeks

Week 36 was definitely one to remember, because baby bug took his first trip to Bonnaroo! People told me I was crazy for going so far into my pregnancy, but I was feeling great, and knew I wasn't going to overdo it... so we figured why not! Plus, I wasn't about to let Keith see Paul McCartney and Tom Petty without me. Keith got free passes through work that included access to a large, mostly air conditioned hospitality tent (that had couches!) so I spent any down time I needed there and just enjoyed as much music as my tired feet would allow! Obviously, we didn't stay in Manchester to camp. We bunked with Steve in Murfreesboro which was only a 20 minute drive so at least we could shower and eat breakfast and lunch like civilized people haha. It was so helpful on Saturday to do that because it allowed us to stay out of the sun and heat and not be at Bonnaroo until later when we had bands to see. Overall it was a great weekend and I'm so glad we went! We're just hoping that our boy is this easy going when he actually arrives, because up til now he seems to roll with the punches extremely well ;-) Randomly, at the merchandise tent they happened to be selling onesies, so we picked him up a keepsake. Now when he wears it to preschool he can brag to all his baby friends about how he was there haha.

Aside from Bonnaroo (yet possibly related to?) this week my feet were super swollen... but just in the mornings when I woke up. As I started walking and moving throughout the day it got much better, but that first walk down the hall to the bathroom each morning was pretty uncomfortable for my feet.

Another thing? I know I've been so insistent on this the entire pregnancy... but I'm SO SICK of working! Not that it's too strenuous or stressful, I think I'm just ready to turn the page and be done. Kind of like senioritis... or that anticipation of a vacation coming up. Every morning now I sulk out of bed and count the minutes til the work day is over, ugh. Hurry up baby! I want a break from my job!

Otherwise all I have to report is that I've been feeling lots of pulling on my right side... kind of like he's trying to rip through my skin. I've had to avoid sleeping on that side because its gotten fairly painful at night, but STILL... thankfully I haven't been losing much sleep in general. Just lots and lots of bathroom trips! Also, at this point I can not even remember what it feels like to not be pregnant. It seems like ive been at it so long that I've just gotten used to it... but gosh I CAN'T WAIT to sleep on my stomach again (and not have heart burn, or a puffy fat face... yah know haha)

Thanks so much for keeping up with us everyone! Baby bug will be here so soon!!!

35 Weeks

Week 35 was a pretty quick one! Lots of hiccups for little boy. He seemed to have them every night when I laid down to sleep, and they weren't just little ones... we're talking whole body shake type stuff haha. Hiccups make Keith a little sad because he feels like they're uncomfortable for our little guy, but they make me laugh and are WAY better than kicks to the ribs :)

I've also noticed that I've been moving a little bit slower, which is to be expected. It's not as easy to get up from the floor, and rolling over to get out of bed has become more of a challenge. It also didn't help that our baby bug spent a day or so this week sitting in some spot that kept making my hands go numb. Not a whole lot of fun haha

This week was spent getting some things done in his nursery and slowly but surely crossing items off the list. We had our last baby shower with friends here in Nashville and made a trip to Target to buy all the things we didn't get off the registry but still "needed" (I put that in quotes because this little guy probably doesn't "need" anything more, but we're just so overwhelmed with how blessed we've been by others generosity! He should be all set for the next year!) Also this week I made a laundry pile the size of a mountain with just baby stuff! It's pretty incredible how a person that small who doesn't even live in our house yet can accumulate so many things that need to be washed ;)

Last little random bit of information for the week, I've noticed that more than usual when I drink something I've been swallowing wrong. Like... going down the wrong tube and having to cough like a lunatic. I wouldn't say that I've choked on anything, just throughly embarrassed myself in front of others daily. Whether this is a pregnancy symptom or not? WHO KNOWS!

34 Weeks

Week 34 was an extremely busy one! We started by taking off for New York for a family wedding and to spend some times with friends. I wasn't nervous at all to fly so late in my pregnancy, but apparently I should have been! We had some annoying delays on our way there that just made the day feel so much longer. I think I've mentioned this before, but I feel like I have some sort of pregnancy claustrophobia where I get super uncomfortable if I'm in a confined space... so the airplane was not my friend. I just couldn't get comfortable any way I sat and was SO relieved to get off. We had a jammed packed weekend that consisted of a lot of driving around Long Island to get to various things for the wedding. Thursday night was the rehearsal dinner, and Friday before the wedding we made a trip down to the beach. The wedding Friday night was a BLAST, so much delicious food and dancing. It was actually one of the most physically exhausting days that I've had my whole pregnancy; we were up so late and I don't think I ever stopped dancing haha. The pain in my back and feet was well worth it though! We got to see family members we hadn't seen since our own wedding, AND got to spend some time with my grandmother (who may or may not have been confused about why I was pregnant haha). Saturday morning we were all moving pretty slowly, had breakfast in the hotel and said goodbyes to some family. Then we headed to visit our good family friends the Arnones for the afternoon. We had sandwiches and spent time out on their deck... I even got to take a nap! Then it was into the city to drop our stuff off at Jakes apartment. I forgot how HOT it gets in New York, and how no one has central AC. Geez was it hot! We did some walking to find a restaurant for dinner and by the time we sat down my hands and feet were thoroughly swollen haha. After dinner we went back to Jakes to relax on the couch and got a chance to see some more friends who were around. On to Sunday, I started the day with a delicious REAL bagel and then we went to a baby shower thrown by some of our best friends! It was so dang fun, they really put on quite a party (for people who have never had babies, or have plans for babies anytime soon haha). We also got to see my brothers band play before we headed off the the airport. Like I said, jam packed trip!!

BUT the real highlight of this story was our trip back to Nashvillle... oof! We got to the airport and found out our flight was going to be delayed an hour. Bummer, but not the end of the world. We ate a real dinner and settled in. When we finally boarded our plane at 10:30pm, I was already uncomfortable but just ready to be home. We sat on the plane for an HOUR because there was a mechanical problem and they needed to replace the computer? Craziness. It took them until about midnight to realize they weren't going to be able to fix it, and we would need a new airplane. At this point though the crew was going in to overtime, and weren't going to be able to fly unless we were able to get on a plane by 12:30. Obviously that didn't happen, so we sat around the airport until they finally cancelled the flight and we had to wait in line to make new arrangements. By 2am we found out we would have a flight in the morning at 6am, but had to connect through MIAMI (New York to Nashville via Miami? Totally on the way...) so we got a hotel voucher, slept for maybe 2 hours and were back at the airport for more. Mind you... within this time frame Keith had to deal with maybe 4 or 5 emotional breakdowns? Lots of tears and exhaustion related frustrations. 36 weeks pregnant is not a good time for major travel problems... gosh it was the worst! We didn't end up making it home until Monday afternoon, we ate some food, took a nap and then headed to a midwife appointment (and she wondered why my blood pressure was high haha). We slept pretty well that night :-) and were pretty delirious the rest of the week.

So I guess in summary, my biggest pregnancy complaint for week was very swollen hands and feet. Obviously I think that traveling on an airplane, doing lots of walking and some extreme heat were the cause of that. The other thing that made me a little sad during our whole traveling catastrophe was that our little bug never got a chance to sleep. He was awake and rolling around in my tummy the whole night; I think he knew I was stressed :-/ We'll take the bad with the good though, for as awful as it was to be stranded at the airport all night, we're SO happy that we got to spend that time with family and to celebrate our soon-to-be little boy with so many people who already love him!

33 Weeks

7 Weeks to go! The countdown is happening....

Things have started to get really fun this week :) lots of indigestion, and the heart burn has gotten terrible. I have to be really careful with what I'm eating and when, and especially careful about when I take my vitamins. In general week 33 was pretty blah, and I'm glad that it didn't stick around very long. There was one day at work that I just got so hot and hungry that I felt sick and wasn't sure that I was going to be able to work until my due date. Thankfully after some rest, and some good food and water I snapped out of it and baby was feeling back to normal.

Baby bug is getting SO BIG! His head is still down (fingers crossed) but it's making things pretty interesting when he decides to do dances on my bladder. I've also been starting to feel like he's pressing downwards, which is always wonderfully awkward and usually stops me in my tracks. I'm doing fine as far as sleeping and getting around though, still some pain in my hips after I sleep for a long time but thankfully I'm still about to sleep for long periods of time! Random, but so far, I've had no braxton hicks contractions that I'm aware of. We'll see what happens now that I put that in writing though...

As far as goings on for week 33, we spent Saturday afternoon in Murfreesboro helping Steve and his fiance Heather fix up their new house. Sunday my favorite ladies at work threw me a really beautiful shower, and Keith's mom was able to come up for the day to join me. Monday was Memorial Day so we were off of work together and took some gift cards up to Babies R Us to buy some of the bigger items we'll need for our bug (since they were having a great sale). Still no nesting urges though... just LOTS of stuff piling up to be organized in baby's room. At least we have a car seat and stroller now though, so if he comes early we can at least take him home from the hospital!

One last bit of TMI for this post... the worst thing about week 33? Some sort of hormone surge must have happened because my face was breaking out like crazy! Nothing like an extremely pregnant woman with a face reminiscent of a 13 year old, ugh.

Also... no picture this week because we had a friend in town staying in the room we normally take it. Ooops!

32 Weeks

This was the week that I was in Florida, and therefore didn't take an "official" photo, so I hope this will do!

I had a GREAT trip home for the weekend, just wish that Keith could have come too! I got some time to relax and see lots of friends. The dance studio that I went to for forever as teenager was having a reunion in honor of their 30th anniversary, which was a great opportunity to catch up with some people who I haven't seen in probably 6 or 7 years. My mom and aunt Kathleen also planned a baby shower for me while I was in town (my first!) and it was SUCH a fun afternoon of games and food, and little boy presents. The house was packed full of friends, and people that have been friends so long they might as well be family. I'm so excited for baby bug to meet all these sweet people who already love him so much! I finished out my trip with a mom day; we got massages and pedicures together while she played hooky from work and also got to have one more lunch at City Oyster with my dad. It's always sad to say goodbye to Florida especially because I hardly ever have a good idea of when the next time I'll be in town is... but at least I know that the next time I'll be there, bug will be in my arms instead of my belly!

Now on to the pregnancy stuff: flying on an airplane at 8months pregnant is probably the most uncomfortable that I've been in a long long time. No space, no where to go... I just wanted to get off the entire time haha. I feel like i've said this before, but in general this pregnancy hasn't been very uncomfortable so I guess it was about time. Thankfully I had no flight issues though, and people were very kind to help me with my bags or let me pass by first.

All that aside, this week was the best because little bug got to take his first trip to the beach AND my parents (who I hadn't seen since DECEMBER) finally got to "see" him and feel him :)
