Holiday Weekend

Just so you know, Keith and I seriously have some of the best friends around. It's a bummer that we don't get to see you all as often now that we live in the Northeast, but when we do, it is always amazing. This past weekend our friends Carolyn and Isaac road-tripped through Philadelphia and stopped to hang out with us for a couple of days. Keith and I don't always have a lot of free time to explore the city so it is great when we have visitors because we can be tourists in our own town.

Our "weekend" (I put that in quotes because Isaac and Carolyn were actually here Sunday-Tuesday, but since I'm no longer in school, anytime that Keith gets two days off in a row we pretty much consider a weekend haha) was a really good mix of relaxing and exploring everything. Sunday evening Carolyn and Isaac rolled into town and I made a yummy lasagna for dinner and we all just hung out and caught up.

Monday we knew that the city was going to be crowded because of the holiday so we decided to stay closer to home . We packed up a cooler and went up to the park to enjoy the beautiful weather. The boys played a little soccer and Carolyn and I relaxed under a shady tree.

After the park we grabbed a few groceries for a BBQ and then Keith and I took them down to Main Street to check out the shops and restaurants, and to have a refreshing beer.

After we got back to the apartment we started prepping for our BBQ. Our friend Dan joined us (and brought the grill) as well as one of Keith's friends from work Amanda. We parked ourselves in the backyard for the evening and chatted over some great food and beer.

On Tuesday we got ourselves up nice and early and headed downtown. Carolyn and Isaac had never been to Philadelphia so we wanted to get in some of the major sites. We got to take them to see the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Reading Terminal Market, City Hall and even down to South Philly for some authentic cheesesteaks. Lots of goodness, here are some pictures:

Tourists!

Chinatown.

Isaac and Carolyn were amazed by Wawa haha

These boys love the Titans. Aka get excited about finding things like... Titan Street haha

Cheesesteaks at Pat's.

(yes I'm eating falafel from Pita Pit... I don't eat steak or cheese haha)

Some photos from our bus ride to and from Pat's

We love learning about history haha (that is the seat George Washington sat in when he signed the Declaration of Independence!)

I still think the Liberty Bell is fake.

Thank you Philly for all the adventures! Now the rest of you need to come visit us, Keith and I are great hosts :)
